CHRYSANNE STATHACOS & ANDREW ZEALLEY:
NEW YORK CITY: ONE GARDEN ONE YEAR

DVD

Six-hundred photographs of a courtyard garden, located on the border of the Chelsea and Greenwich Village districts of New York City, taken by Stathacos over the course of 12 months, look at nature as a cultural mirror for birth, growth, death and decay. Zealley’s score—a counterpoint of instrumental and vocal passages, and international site recordings gathered in Florence, New York City and Toronto, serves as a guide to the four seasons. Experienced together, this dissolving audio/visual composite evokes a visual mantra, an observation on change, a year within 18-minutes.
