| Cross Your Fingers, Hold a Rock (Street Rose Mandala) Projektburo fur Kunst und Kutur, Frankfurt, Germany The seven part Rose Mandala series are based the wheel of fortune, of birth, life, love, and death within fleeting transient time. These works are created by plucking dozens of roses apart petal by petal within a large circle up to 40 feet wide. The mandalas are left to dry shrinking over time. At the end the mandala is swept up, gathered and thrown to the winds. These installation / performances reflect the ephemeral process of change, age, decay and emptiness. The final mandala will be made in Jaipur, India (January 2005) in connection with Nature Morte, New Delhi. Previous mandalas have been at The Invisible Thread (part of The Buddhism Project) at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, NY; biCHANCE at Participant, Inc; and Thin, Bennington College Art Gallery. These works will culminate in a new video work, The Roses. ![]() ![]() |
